Dong Hee Suh | Ceramic Artist, Art Educator | Bible House of Ceramic Art
Dr. Dong Hee Suh has remained in the public eye as an accomplished artist and educator for more than four decades. In all of her art, she works under the motto that “The message of my art is that all the glory is to God.” In her current line of work, she is the Director of The Bible House of Ceramic Art in Seoul. As an educator, she has taught as some of the most premier arts programs in the world. She started at Konkuk University in Korea in 1971, and taught at the institution for more than two decades. She became professor emeritus at Konkuk University in 2013. Furthermore, Dr. Suh’s proficiency in teaching has landed her visiting instructing positions at Hanyang University, Sookmyung Women’s University and the Greenwich House Pottery. From 1996 to 1997, she served as a Fulbright International Scholar-in-Residence at Wesleyan College.
Dr. Suh’s own academic background originated at Seoul National University, where she earned a BFA in applied arts in 1970. She continued at the institution to receive an MFA in ceramic art and design. After relocating to the United States, Dr. Suh earned an MFA in ceramic art and design at the University of Kansas in 1977. She received a PhD in art education from the University of Missouri in 1991. In 1999, she received a certificate in computer graphics from the New School of New York.
Throughout her career, Dr. Suh has created art that has appeared in various galleries and exhibitions. She has also been the recipient of several awards and accolades for her work.
